Admire These Curvy Women As They Break Stereotypes In Cosmo’s Powerful Photoshoot

Admire your curves.

Six great models and fashion enthusiasts stripped down for Cosmo’s powerful photoshoot. The photoshoot features six curvy models who are trashing the notion of ‘perfect body’ and inspiring curvy women the way they are. Their confidence is contagious, and hence they are proving to be an inspiration for many others. Here’s what they said in Cosmopolitan’s exclusive interview:

Liza Golden, Model

“Being a model, I always had to restrict myself to a particular size, but I wish I had known that I could be this happy at my natural size! I’m pretty darn proud of my curves…and I don’t feed into people’s negative comments towards my body at all. I love my bum and my legs, and I’m not afraid to show them off. I know who I am, and I embrace my body the way it is!”

Ragini Ahuja, Designer

“Being ‘fit’ for me has nothing to do with ‘size’. You can be big and fit or skinny and fit… I fell in love with my body much later in life, somewhere in my early 20s. But now, I totally love my broad shoulders (which I was conscious of as a teen) and curves. Also a lot of madness—my energy wouldn’t have fit any other body type!”

Shyma Shetty, Designer

“We’ve had our ups and downs, but my body and I have become good friends now… Society has ingrained in us the ‘idea’ of what a healthy body looks like, and people who buy into that illusion are unfortunately keener on having the appearance of a healthy body versus actually being healthy. I may not be the ‘perfect’ size, but I have strong limbs, soft curves, a sharp mind, luscious hair and zero- maintenance skin. And no-one can take that away from me!”

Nitya Arora, Designer

“I’ve been curvy all my life, but this is the biggest I’ve ever been. And frankly, over the years, I have learnt to love my body… Women, even when they’re a Size 2, are overly critical about their bodies. But if you work on it, you can have a rocking bod at any size!”

Angelique Raina, Brand Consultant

“Being in the fashion space made me realise the amount of teamwork that goes into creating the ‘perfect body’ of celebrities and models. Perfect bodies do not exist; they are a myth. It is important to be able to see through the manufactured ideals in the media. Being of mixed ethnic heritage showed me how naturally and ethnically diverse we all are—across borders, what you are most insecure about might be a celebrated asset.”

Sunny Leone, Actor

“Even though I was always conscious about what I put into my body, I’ve always been on the bigger side (thanks to my Punjabi genes). But I’ve embraced my body the way it is and I choose to be on camera that way. You should be healthy for yourself and your own body…and that, to me, is when I wake up in the morning feeling fresh and have this amazing energy all day long.”
