Doing rounds on the social media these days is the song “Champion” recorded by West Indies cricketer Dwayne aka ‘DJ’ Bravo.
The video was directed in March by Joseph Fernando of the Vega entertainment but it gained popularity only after a video of captain Darren Sammy, Chris Gayle and Bravo was taped, of the three singing Champion and celebrating their semi-final win against India. Their tape drove the cricket fans crazy, and the original video of Champion gained more than 4 million views overnight.
Here is the video of Dwayne Bravo and Chris Gayle doing their winning dance.
The West Indies eventually won both the men and women Twenty20 World Cup titles. The men’s final was on Sunday.
The song Champion hails most of the WI cricketers like, Chris Gayle, Sir Vivian Richards, Brian Lara, Malcolm Marshall and Bravo as champions. It also refers to other sportspeople from WI like Usian Bolt, Serena Williams, dancehall artistes Bounty and Beenie Man as champions.
The song has a signature move that the players are seen doing. This is the third song by Bravo after Go Gyal Go and Chalo Chalo.
