NYE Was Basically A Shameful Night For Bengaluru

When its comes to the safety of women in India, there’s no point comparing one city to another. Bengaluru, on New Year’s Eve, proved that it is no better than the National Capital Delhi. This bizarre incident took place in the heart of the city – MG Road and Brigade Road where people gathered to welcome the new year 2017. But despite “adequate security arrangements” women were molested on streets while their male friends and counterparts had terrible time protecting them from rowdy men. If reports are to believe, 1500 policemen were deployed in the area to ensure safety and security of the masses.

All hell broke loose when close to midnight the hooligans started mistreating and misbehaving with women by passing lewd remarks on women, so much so that few of the women had to take off their stilettoes and run for help. BM lensmen on MG Road and Brigade Road on Saturday night witnessed the mass molestation of women which took place in the open and in the presence of 1500 cops.

However, no case for molestation was filed officialy as according to police there were no complaints from the women. Sandeep Patil former deputy commissioner (central) of the city, under whose limits Brigade Road and MG Road fall, told BM that a number of women did approach the cops seeking help as they got separated from their family members and friends.
“So we used our public address systems to locate and our men ensured they faced no hardship. No case of molestation has been registered so far,” he added.

Here’s welcoming 2017 on a shameful note.
