16 months ago, a solar-powered plane took off from Abu Dabi and started its ‘around-the-world’ voyage. Now, after more than 24000 miles the plane is on the verge of completing the circle, they have posted a brilliant time-lapse video (recorded on a go pro) of their journey so far. Solar Impulse 2 is aiming to make use of energy-efficient batteries and other technologies that could help to make the flight more fuel efficient and friendly for our environment.
Pilots of the solar-powered aeroplane say that flying the plane hasn’t been easy. Piccard and Borschberg take turns flying the craft, which is a one-seater that doesn’t even provide enough room for the pilots to stand up straight.
