While growing up, I spent a lot of time with parrots for my granny had five different species peacefully coexisting in her verandah. We shared a great bond I mean the birds and me; they understood me and to know them better, I researched about them and realised that they could engage in much more than mere mimicry.
I found out that parrots can solve certain linguistic processing tasks as deftly as 4-6-year-old children. They can grasp concepts like “same” and “different,” “bigger” and “smaller”, “none” and numbers. They understand zero. Perhaps most interestingly, they can combine labels and phrases in novel ways.
Till this morning, I believed I knew all about the parrots, but my belief changed altogether after viewing this video, I didn’t feel the same way. Damn, what a show.
